Because the broker pages [seq, seq + maxNum) with no overlap, that condition becomes true after the penultimate page whenever N ≡ 1 (mod pageSize), so the final entry was never requested. Change the stop condition to >= total on both the client and broker sides so a full page is always fetched before stopping.
