Attaching v2 patch (slightly modified as per Jakob's review). Also attaching a
slightly modified patch which applies to the 0.7.0 branch. Committed to both
master and 0.7.0. It's not really part of the 0.7.0 release, but it makes
generating the Maven artifacts from the 0.7.0 release easier to have the build
config on that branch.
