A relatively incremental improvement to the existing system would be to
introduce a factory registry. The registry would just be a map from String to
factory (e.g. "kafka" -> KafkaSystemFactory). Developers could then just
specify "kafka" instead of "org.apache.samza.kafka.KafkaSystemFactory" in their
config file. Samza could just walk all classes, and look for an @annotation or
just factories that implement SamzaFactory (or something) to construct the
registry on startup.
I believe [~martinkl] was asking for something like this a while ago.
