Thanks for raising this originally. I checked the current `dev` branch, and this feature is already implemented there in PR #10505. The `recursive_file_scan` option now exists in `FileBaseSourceOptions`, and the file source read path already respects it when walking directories. So this is no longer an open design gap in the current `dev` code line. If you verify against the latest `dev` build, `recursive_file_scan = false` should keep the source from descending into subdirectories.
