Your variant is the better pin for that window — keeping a real drain in flight avoids a reflection-set gate with no savepoint request behind it, which is exactly the trade-off you called out. Nothing further needed from me, so my ported version can stay as a comment here. Glad the dev sync (picking up #12444) worked out. I'll keep an eye on the CI runs on `a691fb195` and can repost the triage notes if the known PayPal/PostgresCDC flakes show up.
