[~prasadm] can you weigh in on this? I'm a bit concerned because it broke a
Hive test, which suggests a backwards incompatibility. However, my reading is
on the Hive side this only affects the local group mapping file, which is only
suggested for tests. So, it shouldn't break production users. Thoughts?
