As discussed on the mailing list, this item is to apply the PMD (Project Mess
Detector) plugin to the project. The patch is quite large, although the changes
are almost all trivial. I will post it on the review board as well to seek some
clarification on a few points.
PMD is run by default. You can use the "-Pnochecks" profile to avoid running it
if you want.
