The poll used switchMap, so any read slower than the three-second interval was cancelled at the next tick and the table stopped updating. A read is slowest while a check is running, which is exactly when this polls. exhaustMap skips a tick while one is still outstanding. Refresh and Remove had no in-flight guard, and are disabled only once the reload after them returns, so a double-click sent two requests: two validation jobs, or a delete that 404s and pops "No curated image N" right after a successful one.
