The generator merges them with the reader URIs it derives from materialized links in pass 2, and the resource allocator does not treat the operators reading from the cache as sources, so their output links get the same partitioning as behind a materialized link. Region.getSourceOperators counts only the region's own links. An operator that reads a saved result still lists the link it no longer reads, which can come from another operator of its region. Without saved results every link between two operators of a region is one of its links, so the answer is the same. With no cache read inputs nothing changes.
