Closing: Surefire 3.6.0 removed the TestNG provider and runs everything through the JUnit Platform, where `suiteXmlFiles` is no longer honoured (see https://maven.apache.org/surefire/maven-surefire-plugin/whats-new-3-6-0.html). The parameter is still accepted, so the build stays green, but the suite is silently ignored. Reproduced with TestNG 7.10.2 and a suite file: 3.5.6 runs exactly the suite (2 tests); 3.6.0 skips a class listed only in the suite, runs a class not in the suite, and runs a method the suite excludes. TomEE drives the CDI, Bean Validation (embedded + tomee), MP Config, MP JWT and MP Rest Client TCKs through `suiteXmlFiles`, so this bump would change which TCK tests run without any failure.
