Richard Eckart de Castilho commented on WICKET-6425:
----------------------------------------------------

I respectfully disagree with closing this issue as "not a problem". It may be
according to the specs, but it causes FileUpload.writeToTempFile() to be
malfunctioning. If ServletPartFileItem.write() cannot be fixed, then
FileUpload.writeToTempFile() has to be fixed - otherwise it is useless.

I am currently working around the issue by obtaining an InputStream from the
FileUpload and copying to a temporary location manually.

> ServletPartFileItem.write() receives an absolute path to a temporary location
> from FileUpload.writeToTempFile(). However, it discards the full path and
> passes on only the file name itself.

>       @Override
> public void write(File file) throws Exception
>       {
>               part.write(file.getName());
>       }

> So "file" here is an absolute location to a temporary file in the temp folder.
> Next, Tomcat's ApplicationPart.write() turns `file.getName()` back into a
> file which is now relative to the current working directory.
> Thus, the downloaded file never ends up in the location requested by
> FileUpload.writeToTempFile().
