The Surefire upgrade to 3.3+ added enableOutErrElements which defaults to true
and includes system-out and system-err in the xml artifacts. This significantly
increases their size: ~45KB to ~1MB in many cases. In my test environment, that
leads to

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Capturing stdout seems useful when doing ad-hoc testing or smaller test runs.
I'd propose adding a profile to set enableOutErrElements=false for CI
environments where that extra output can cause problems.
