1. *anyone* backporting to branch-3.4 MUST do a yetus run to make sure things are still all good on java8. 2. People can start to learn and play with java17 language and API changes. I'd recommend starting with the tests there. And I have no idea what the changes are having been stuck in java8...which at least added closures.
