The metadata field is required in all SerializerBase implementations due to
this method in the SerializerBase signature:

public abstract Map<String, String> getMetadata() throws IOException;

You're right though, AvroGenericSerialization will only accept() if CLASS_KEY
is set and it's assignable to AvroReflectSerializable.
