We can discuss here instead. My previous concern for this commit landing in
2.8.3 is mostly for timing and versions. Giving 2.8.3 is now blocked by other 2
hdfs blockers, time won't be a major concern for now. Looks like httpclient
version is not a problem also given [~Sammi]'s comments above, so can we assume
patch here with OSS fix/improvement is safely landing on 2.8.x without
affecting other downstream users?
If so, I would approve this commit to land on branch-2.8 and branch-2.8.3 but
we have to state a release note (as [~chris.douglas] mentioned above) to claim
the support versions for this improvement - otherwise, users could upgrade from
2.8.3 to 2.9.0 which will have regression.
