I would support this as it keeps the codebase cleaner @sjlee Apologies for the late reply. The situation is consistent with @pan3793 feedback. We will completely discontinue support for JDK8 on the trunk and transition to JDK17 in the future. jdiff is a feature we need to support on JDK17, as it involves the final jdiff comparison XML file for the release, such as `Apache_Hadoop_HDFS_3.2.0.xml`. The removal of jdiff support on JDK8 was also the result of a discussion with Steve.
