Suresh Srinivas commented on HADOOP-9192: ----------------------------------------- bq. It's about Apache too. Not true. You mean It's about Apache Hadoop HDFS too. bq. This whole "stable" vs "beta" vs "alpha" thing is a new concept, with nothing written about it in our bylaws. I think we should write about this in our bylaws. But, Alpha release is a widely used term in software engineering. People do not usually deploy them in production or if they do, they generally understand the associated risk. Here are some links: http://infolab.stanford.edu/~burback/watersluice/node45.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Alpha+release bq. Breaking compatibility screws users, regardless of distro. If it's required, let's do it. Well just superficial review of our protobuf stuff has shown many bugs that require incompatible changes. I continue to do the review that I was planning to do before declaring GA. I am sure to find more. Meanwhile, I will escalate this at an appropriate time. > Move token related request/response messages to common > ------------------------------------------------------ > > Key: HADOOP-9192 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-9192 > Project: Hadoop Common > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: security > Affects Versions: 2.0.2-alpha > Reporter: Suresh Srinivas > Assignee: Suresh Srinivas > Attachments: HADOOP-9192.patch, HADOOP-9192.patch, HADOOP-9192.patch > > > Get, Renew and Cancel delegation token requests and responses are repeated in > HDFS, Yarn and MR.
