I synced offline with Arpit. I now see why the implies may be incorrect for 
scenarios you mention. In that case, I would really like this patch to fix the 
other broken checkDir also because that is incorrect too and it doesnt make 
sense to fix the same bug in 2 patches. This would also need to be backported 
to branch-1.
