Abin Shahab commented on HADOOP-10949: -------------------------------------- Send in this class does not return any futures: kafka.javaapi.producer.Producer. This is the old producer. Version 0.8.2(the latest) introduced a new producer that has futures: http://kafka.apache.org/082/javadoc/org/apache/kafka/clients/producer/KafkaProducer.html So that explains why we have the old one. Regarding your other comment, KafkaSink IS being inited using a {{SubsetConfiguration}}.
