Natural Language Processing (NLP) is notoriously a Hard Problem, due to
the apparently non-deterministic rules in most languages.

Folks use nueral-nets, and other esoteric things to attempt to devine
semantics of the words.  And plurality is part of the semantics.

Of course, you could just have a dictionary file, maybe, of plurals
and singulars...  But that'd be a pain-in-the-ass. ;)
