Therefore, I am encoding the authorization header myself, since the API doesn't support forcing the authorization header. I'm using a GetMethod.addRequestHeader("Authorization", Base64.encode (username+":"+password)); Anyways, this can't be done since the encode method is Base64 is package scope.
