While the refactoring certainly has taken place (changes made either due to these patches, or because whoever made the changes just thought them to be a good idea), I think the test cases that I provided are still missing from the test suite. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not - I do think the tests (which pass) show how dependent validators behave today.
