Sorry, I must have missed something - is Apache naming part of Geronimo? What is its scope? I imagine it goes well beyond an in memory JNDI provider.
Apache naming is not part of Geronimo. It will be part of the new Apache Directory project, being introduced into the Apache incubator. The scope of the Apache Directory project does extend well beyond in-memory JNDI, to include a full range of naming and directory services. You can see the proposal here:

Anyway, I'll get something together that is a decent patch against the current commons-naming in the sandbox and submit it.
