On the TODO Page there's an entry to "Add a file monitor, that watches for external changes to files." Although it's a polling threaded file monitor, it monitors files/folders and uses only VFS methods for handling. I used a snapshot from 3rd October to test and develop with. It was something I wanted and something you needed. Hope it helps.
