i think that either martin or noel were going to head over to taglibs
and see what they thought about it. i think it's a great idea but am
unlikely to find the cycles any time soon to push it forward. if you've
a few to spare, then why not post something over there and see what the
reaction is?

To be honest, as someone who was going to start working in taglibs, I
think the development there reached either a 'point of stability' or
'loss of interest' such that not much happens there beyond bugfixes now.
I would recommend not getting bogged down in taglibs and focus more on
establishing the project with the parties that are interested, motivated
and willing to put in the time. Once well established, I would bank on
the eventual consolidation of the taglibs project by "webapp commons"
once its established.
