Regarding Robert's release notes comment, I also like to at least see a "published" release notes file included with the distro and ideally for this to be a text file. The way I handled this in [math] was to create a custom jsl for the maven annoucement plugin. Look at project.properties and the referenced file, release-notes.jsl for [math] if you want to go that route. I would be fine with just including a static copy of the stock html changes report, though, and even missing that is not enough by itself to keep me from +1.
