Mario Ivankovits resolved VFS-92. --------------------------------- Resolution: Won't Fix I think this is totally out of scope of VFS. The reasons are: 1) FUSE is GPL/LGPL which is a nono for ASF projects. In this case we have to build a JNI bridge - so we really have to link against the FUSE libraries 2) many of VFS's filesystems are already available (http://fuse.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/FileSystems) - so FUSE wont benefit from our VFS 3) Performance will be poor - compared to the native implementations I admit, such a project has a coolnesfactor, but I think its not very practical, though, hey, you can start up a project on sourceforge :-) Sorry! Ciao, Mario > FUSE integration > ---------------- > > Key: VFS-92 > URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/VFS-92 > Project: Commons VFS > Issue Type: New Feature > Reporter: Elifarley Callado Coelho > > Integrating FUSE (http://fuse.sourceforge.net/) and Commons-VFS would ease > the creation of new file system drivers for the GNU/linux and FreeBSD > platforms. > Besides, it would be really cool to mount a partition whose handling is done > in Java ;-) -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
