It seems this is a non-trivial issue to solve since the population of the 
actual type object is a bit tricky.  However I see the point that this a 
particularly useful method to have. Right now the baseTypeQname is populated 
(but not the actual type object)

I will keep this issue to be solved in the next release.

As for the documentation, yes I have to agree it is very poorly documented 
(which has been originally done way before my time) We are fixing as much we 
can :)
