Log:
making a branch for the 1.4 release. This is a copy of the (unreleased) 1.3.3
but as discussed in the mailing list the code has a significant behavior
change. In other words any component that may have worked with 1.3.x versions
may not completely work with 1.4. Hence it seems appropriate to reflet that in
the version number
