The solution proposed in your patch is invalid. The reason is that DOOM's
ElementImpl implements both org.w3c.dom.Element and OMElement. Your proposed
specification of getNamespaceURI clashes with the definition of
Element#getNamespaceURI. This means that DOOM would either violate the DOM
contract or Axiom.
BTW, why using the String literal "null" instead of the null value?
