Adrian,

As sick as it seems... There´s absolutely nothing wrong. I tested it with
j2sdk1.4.2 and j2sdk1.4.1_01, fresh install.
I´m not using any application server, just a simple stand-alone application.

I suspect that I´m not allowed to use DES encryption, because I´m from
Brazil (anyone knows about export restrictions for this algorithm?).

I downloaded from Sun site the
Java(TM) Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy
Files 1.4.2, just for testing, but it keeps not working.

Thanks in advance,

Andre

Andre,
JCE should be included in 1.4.1 to my knowledge. Maybe your
java.policy file is corrupt, the JCE jar got deleted somehow? I'm not
really sure, there are often conflicts caused by various application
servers and the way they handle classpaths.

The other questions were directed more at the other HttpClient
developers as something we might need to consider changing.

Regards,

Adrian Sutton.
