Hi everyone, Naresh Kumar Babu (cc'ed) and I are excited to announce the release of the "Cat2Data" tool - a user script that makes it easy to add large amounts of structured data on Wikimedia Commons. The way it works is that you select a category, then use the tool to add one or more property/value pairs (e.g., "depicts: hummingbird") to all of the files in that category, based of course on what's in the category. For categories with hundreds of files, this can reduce the time it takes to populate all that data from hours to one minute or less.
You can find more information about Cat2Data here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:TechieNK/Cat2Data And to try it out, you only have to add the following to your common.js file on Wikimedia Commons: importScript("User:TechieNK/Cat2Data.js"); -Yaron -- WikiWorks · MediaWiki Consulting · http://wikiworks.com
