Hi Michael, yes you are right, but that are not only the "o". Every Letter has it own "direction" because of the perspective, so it's correct in that way.
Just have a look on your mobile phone (or any other thing) on your desk, put it right to you, you will see the left side of the thing. Now put it more to the left (but don't turn it!) and you will see the right side of it. Same thing with the letters, that makes the 3D Effekt in a 2D Picture/Monitor. You can find that at every letter. btw. I think it looks really nice, the color is nice and "fits" (don't know to say in english) well to the orange of openmoko, the openmoko theme, my yellow/orange room and my ubuntu desktop :).
