As written in the dev list, the problem is with the transistors: *Shawn Rutledge wrote: > But GTA02v5 is not going to ship is it?* *Last thing I've heard, the first units will be GTA02v5 * *Fortunately, these power-draining LEDs (well, it's the transistors really) are the only major issue we fixed between v5 and v6. There are a few smaller improvements, mainly shaving off a mW of suspend power consumption here and there.* *- Werner* It was not easy to find any details, but it was mentioned something about a fix: *From: Werner Almesberger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Future Button and LED software spec Newsgroups: gmane.comp.handhelds.openmoko.thirdparty Date: 2008-04-17 15:50:07 GMT (1 day, 2 hours and 8 minutes ago)* *thomasg wrote: > @Werner: do you know - or can you figure out - how many GTA02v5 will leave > the factory and reach the customers?* *I've heard something like "thousands". However, I've also heard that there'll be some sort of fix for the LED problem in these GTA02v5. Perhaps the dual transistor for the dual LED has been replaced with a pack with built-in register. I'll probably hear more about this in the next days.* *> And how will it be possible to find out what revision it is without powering > it on?* *I don't know if there will be any easily visible labels or such. I know it's printed quite clearly on the PCB * *- Werner* It sounds to me as the problem is easy for those of us that knows a little electronics. If I get one that leaks current, I will start soldering! Does anybody know if the fix Werner is talking about, will be done for all GTA02v5 PCB's? If it really will be a fix for it, it will not be any problem at all. -- Please don't send me Word or PowerPoint attachments.
