I vote for the 3.5. Supporting standard headphones is more important than being able to use a wired headset. However, some phones (at least the ROKR E2, maybe others) have had a 3.5 jack with an extra ring, which I think is for the microphone. If you follow this standard, the wired headsets designed for those can work.
