You probably have the wrong adaptor. You need one that goes from 2.5mm stereo + mic -> 3.5mm stereo. You probably bought a stereo -> stereo adaptor. I've been looking for the correct adapter so I can use my good headphones with the FR, but no one seems to sell it...
