I've heard of shorts due to the soldering job (it is a pretty small region) causing problems liek that. I've never experienced it, but there was a post on the list a while back about it. I don't believe #1024 could cause the mic issue, as it is in the modem power supply circuit (As I understand it) Best of luck, and double check your buzzfix for shorts.
