Ah, OK, I think I understand now. You apply restart-when-modem-stops-working.patch to your tree when building for a QtMoko release - right? - which means that the reenumeration ability is included in QtMoko releases. But I lost that reenumeration ability as soon as I did and installed my own build - probably shortly after November 18th. It also means that the high CPU state that I described can only be observed by people who do their own builds, and hence won't have affected most people. I'll include restart-when-modem-stops-working.patch in my build from now on. I think I've been seeing the high CPU state about once every 1-2 days, so I guess I should now see modem reenumeration with similar frequency.
