Community Gardens of Chester County (www.GardensCC.org) seeks a part-time 
(average 20 hours per week) Program Director to assist county residents in 
their efforts to build and maintain gardens in their neighborhoods. Our 
organization was founded to improve the quality of life of low-income county 
residents through community gardening and greening. The program builds 
gardens with people who will be equal partners with us in the construction 
and design process, and who demonstrate a commitment to maintaining their 
gardens in perpetuity.

The Program Director position requires equal parts vision and horse sense. 
Candidates with the following qualities are encouraged to apply:
o       Energetic self-starter
o       Experienced gardener, equally passionate about plants and people
o       Effective communicator with public speaking and community organizing 
experience
o       Must own a reliable car or truck
o       Familiarity with Chester County
o       Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

Specific job responsibilities include:
o       Handle requests for new garden projects: lead meetings with interested 
community groups, determine the feasibility of proposed projects, and lead 
collaborative garden design processes
o       With the assistance of the Executive Director, establish and implement 
timelines and budgets for creating new gardens
o       Manage our established Kitchen Gardens and Garden Tenders programs and 
help mark the direction of those programs going forward
o       Coordinate pick-up and distribution of significant in-kind donations of 
plants, soil, tools, etc.; maintain stock of all supplies
o       Receive, manage, and thank our committed volunteers, as they assist 
with 
garden construction and clean-up projects
o       Document our organization's work with photographs, and contribute to 
our 
newsletter with news items and announcements; present your activities at 
fundraising and other events during the year
o       Work closely with the Executive Director and attend monthly Advisory 
Committee meetings; with the Executive Director and the Advisory Committee, 
develop overall program objectives for Community Gardens of Chester County 
for the next two years, and a plan for meeting those objectives

Compensation: hourly; commensurate with experience
