The following is the expected schedule of House farm bill activity over the next month from the Sustainable Agriculture Coalition.
This week June 11: House Agriculture Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition and Forestry meets to markup the Nutrition Title on June 14. Visit the Community Food Security Coalition's policy page at: <http://www.foodsecurity.org/policy.html> http://www.foodsecurity.org/policy.html for the latest information on the Healthy Food and Communities package (including Farm to Cafeteria and Community Food Projects) that will be considered as part of the Nutrition Title. Week of June 18: The House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management will meet to markup Chairman Peterson's (D-MN) Commodity Title proposal. Week of June 25: The full House Agriculture Committee is expected to meet and markup all sections of the Farm Bill. This will be a busy week giving groups a chance to get amendments offered that address issues that were left out of or tabled during the subcommittee meetings. Week of July 2 (July 4 recess) Week of July 9: Possible start of Senate Ag Committee markup of the farm bill, though nothing has been set in stone yet. Week of July 16: The House leaders have guaranteed time for consideration of the farm bill on the House floor this week.
