Join Chicago's Community Greening Network for the Green and Growing Fair at the 
Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park, Chicago, IL:  April 30, 10 am 
-4 pm.  

Entrance to the Fair is Free!  Visitors may participate in hands-on activities 
in the Conservatory's Demonstration Garden, in a silent auction, view exhibits, 
purchase plants, fresh produce, seeds, books and more from a number of greening 
vendors and learn how to become part of the Chicago urban gardening scene. 

The day also features workshops ranging from composting to butterfly gardening 
to information for school teachers to "Backyard Gourmet"- focusing on 
homegrown, slow food. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., participants may register for 
four workshops from the list below for $10.
7       Butterfly Gardens
7       Composting
7       Art in the Garden
7       Involving Community in School Gardens
7       "What's Up With Food in Chicago" - a panel on Chicago's food system
7       Small Space Design/Container Gardening
7       Rain Gardens - garden designs that take advantage of natural conditions
7       Backyard Gourmet - using homegrown produce for "slow food" meals
Also featured during the fair, patrons will enjoy the grand opening of the 
Garfield Market Place showcasing a full service garden center, artist studios 
and boutique shops.

GreenNet is a coalition of organizations and public agencies committed to 
sharing information and resources and to developing join efforts to improve the 
quality, amount, use, and wide geographic distribution of sustainable, green 
open space in the City of Chicago. Members include the Chicago Park District, 
archi-treasures, Chicago Botanic Garden, Chicago Department of Environment 
GreenCorps, Chicago Reach, Friends of the Park, Garfield Park Conservatory 
Alliance, Heifer Project International, NeighborSpace, Openlands Project, Rain 
Garden Network, and WRD Environmental.
