Actually, while the view that most of the world has of New York City is those 
tall buildings and parks in Manhattan, in the outer boroughs ( and in front 
of certain rich folks houses in Greenwich Village and the Upper East side, if 
you can believe it, are some very, very nice lawns and yard.  On one block, in 
the East 40's in the Turtle Bay area near the UN, the late Katharine Hepburn's 
brownstone connected to other similar buildings by a communal yard and garden 
that I once visited, a number of years ago.

her in nearby Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, in the next "Community Gardener"
