Join Friends of the Mississippi River Gorge Stewards on Saturday,
June 18, 8:30 - 11:00am for a Prairie Planting.
Led by conservation biologist Carolyn Carr, groups of volunteers will
remove existing vegetation and plant several small areas to increase
species diversity at the oak savanna/prairie restoration site at 36th
Street and West River Parkway in Minneapolis. We'll also receive
orientation about what's already growing in this special place and
remove a patch of invasive reed canary grass.
The total number of volunteers for this event is limited to 15, so
register now with Beth Storey at Friends of the Mississippi River,
651/222-2193 x16 or [EMAIL PROTECTED]
NOTE: Minneapolis Park and Recreation staff has treated this area for
poison ivy, but a chance of coming into contact with the plant
remains. If you participate in this event, we ask that you cover your
skin completely and follow particular at-home procedures for removing
clothing (to be described at the event). Any questions, please
contact Beth Storey at 651/222-2193 x16.
