If you are traveling in the UK and the timing is right, this sounds like fun:
From: Hornsey Journal, today: 'Photographer Vicky captures a haven of peace Photographer Vicky Smith is hoping her latest exhibition will offer people a snapshot of life in Haringey. Vicky ... is showing her Escape Routes exhibition at Bruce Castle Museum, Lordship Lane, Tottenham. The show features images of allotment owners from all over Haringey... Vicky chose to photograph allotment holders as a way of showing the diversity of people in Haringey. She said: "The area's rich social and ethnic diversity is reflected not just in the produce and the shed design, but in the plot owners themselves." She also wanted to help people realise the importance of allotments in London. Vicky said: "Allotments are far more than places for growing cheap vegetables, they are spces that inspire reveries, dreams and fantasies. The plot is a refuge from turbulent times, a lung in the city, a haven of peace." Escape Routes will be on show at Bruce Castle until the end of September.' ______________________________________________________ The American Community Gardening Association listserve is only one of ACGA's services to community gardeners.
