Colleagues: I have a very good friend whose mother has 1.75 acres of flat, arable land that is nothing but low weeds. She cannot develop the property because it is in a 100 year flood plain. She is willing to lease it for a dollar a year to the community to garden or farm. The property is zoned agricultural and I understand that there is a well on the property that may need work and certainly would need a pump. There appears to be electrical lines nearby to supply power to the property. It is in a rural area about 2 miles from the city where I live so it is accessible but not central to the population center. What written and/or human resource(s) would you suggest to ask the right questions and bring in the right expertise to successfully use this property for a community garden, a small farm and/or the beginning of a regional community gardening effort?
