*Are you interested creating more opportunities for people to grow their own food and eat healthier in your area? *
(Mpls-St. Paul metro area) Twin Cities residents are needed to help create local food resource hubs. Resource hubs are local partnership networks helping gardeners get the education and tools they need to grow food successfully. These Local Food Resource Hubs are intended to support residents growing their own fresh produce in their backyards, front yards or community gardens. Inspired by Detroit Garden Resource Collaborative's Cluster model, we're looking to adapt this model for the Mpls-St. Paul metro area. We invite you to join us next Saturday on Sept 12th to come learn more about Local Food Resource Hubs and enjoy hands-on learning in building a hoophouse. On Monday-Tuesday (sept 13-14), we then dig-in and collaboratively design a framework based-on *and with *the good food folks from Greening of Detroit -- using their experience, insight, and talents in developing our own. To learn more and register for Sept 12-14 "FRESH START", go to www.gardeningmatters.org/hubs.html. It's free, but we need to know how many people and from where in order to make sure there is enough food, materials and for everyone. Sept 12 lunch is free, but we're asking folks to donate a produce item from your garden or bring a baked product if you can. Produce we don't use will be donated to the food shelf at Northpoint. Lunch on Sunday is a potluck cookout--we'll provide grilled food and beverages. Please bring a dish to share. You may also want to bring a chair or blanket to sit on the grass while you cheer on those building the hoop house:) Kids are welcome, but please bring what they need to be entertained (just in case) LAstly, we know that many people will not be able to attend every day--Please feel free to attend any portion that you are able to. If you cannot attend but want to be kept informed, please fill out the form so we have your contact info. http://www.gardeningmatters.org/hubs.html#agenda Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested.
