apologies in advance. during our recent discussion on calculating pounds and value of harvest per square foot, did anyone also calculate the costs of inputs? I didn't see that, but there were an awful lot of posts and I could have missed while skimming through. or does anyone have a "for every dollar you invest in our garden you/we will harvest $amount or #amount of fresh nutritious food for people in need" slogan you're using?
I sense that we've already covered this, but if somebody could just remind me that would be great. I'm working on a fundraiser to garner hundreds of (very) small donations, and i'm having trouble figuring a hook. whatever I'm going to tell them I'm going to do with the money it can't be over $2 per unit. so I could say that I can plant one 30' row or something (my WIC garden only has 88 of 30' rows and 52 of 50' rows so after the 140th pledge I'm screwed), but somehow I have to show a direct link back to the donation. direct costs would be better, forget membership fees, transportation, all that - just muddies the water. could you say that one dollar invested might yield one lovely salad for a family of ?X? maybe? it's the accountability part that's killing me. hyperbole is so much easier to sell! thanks, -fgc Fred Conrad Community Garden Coordinator Atlanta Community Food Bank 732 Joseph E.
