In our grow zone (7B/8A), we use 2 pounds per square foot per year, at a
value of $5 per pound (organically grown). (I have seen this question
answered elsewhere as 1.24 pounds in Ohio and 4 pounds in Cuba.) That
averages out higher-value things like salad greens and herbs with lower
value crops. Organic salad greens sell in the store for something like
4 bucks for 5 ounces, and herbs sell for $1.99 or even more for just a
couple of ounces. A 4' x 8' bed could therefore pretty easily produce
64 pounds for the value of $320.

Hi ....does anyone have research or info on the economic impact of community
gardening. Specifically, the average economic value of vegetables from a
typical 4x 12 plot?
Or estimates or good formulas to use....thanks
