Hello Tim,

Everyone who has responded to your e-mail seems to be covering the basics. Our
Community Gardens Program here in San Jose, Calif. strictly adheres to the
common practices of organic gardening; no pesticides, herbicides and chemical
fertilizers or other such substances or practices inconsistent with organic
gardening are prohibited. Another important topic to touch basis on is
Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Subject: [Community_garden] gardening info

Hi Everyone,

I'm involved with a community garden in Moscow, Idaho and wondered what
sort of gardening information other community gardens share with their
plot holders. Our advisory board is planning to have four informational
sessions over the growing season to cover different but timely topics.
What sort of gardening information do you share with your gardeners?
Our tentative topics are:

1) Gardening 101 (sort of a dos and don'ts of basic gardening with frost
dates, suggested varieties to grow, keeping a notebook, etc)
2) Preserving the harvest and seed saving
3) Produce donation opportunities
4) Cover crops

Anyone care to share what they have found useful, not useful, in terms
of topics and maybe timing of those topics?

thanks,
Tim Cavileer
