Hello! We are Common Ground Community Garden of Crestview, FL and are just
forming up. Our Planning Committee has met since the new year and made great
progress with our organization, but now comes the intimidating part: filing
for our non-profit status with state and federal governments.
We have strictly charitable and educational purposes, but understand the IRS
will need to see need very specific language in our "Articles of
Incorporation" with our state (Florida) when we later apply for our 501c3. We
thought it might be helpful to learn from others what specific language has
proven successful in the past for the required "Dissolution of Assets" and
"Purpose" statements.
More importantly, if others would be willing to share their Form 1023
(application for their 501c3) as a template it would be exceedingly helpful.
Of course it would be adapted to our specific program. We are an all-volunteer
group, have not yet begun fundraising, and have been unable to find help from
attorneys and accountants to help us navigate the minefield of Form 1023.
If you need further organizational information from us, we'd be happy to
furnish it. We would be forever grateful for your help to jump-start our garden
and overcome these hurdles without having to reinvent the wheel.
